Soul Traveler
I have spent most of my life traveling
To churches, traditions, temples, sacred places
Looking across oceans, forests, skies and faces
Reading mystics, healers, poets, teachers
Yoga, meditation, prayer
Looking for connection
Trying to make it real
And keeping myself just separate enough
To keep playing this game
Noticing similarities that run through this world
Our human experience
and the Anthropology of Religion
Just to find that
All roads lead to Rome, as they say
This thing we seek cannot be created or achieved
Layers within layers
It can only be revealed
It’s as plain, simple and ordinary as our Existence
As profound as the mystery of our Illusion
The fabric of the Universe
A real experience
Emerges in simplicity
Saying yes to what you are
What remains
When experience arises and falls away
The revelation of
The Love that's always with us
The Life that's always with us
The Light that’s always with us
And also is us
Levels and layers of experience
Hiding in plain sight
We are what we seek
The Peace that’s always with us
The Awareness that’s always with us
The Luxury that’s always with us
Magnificence that’s always with us
The possibility of being all we are
I am not willing to make it up
Fabricated experiences of the Divine
Are almost as disappointing
As nothing at all
This sacred conversation
Goes on forever
Between I am and I AM
The Love that’s always with us
This is
Real Life
And now mediocrity
Feels unbearable
